FAQ'S on Relinguishing

Your equine may either:

  • Reside at the L.H.P.R Rescue Unit

  • Join our Foster Scheme.

When will I be able to visit my equine(s)?

  • If your equine resides at our rescue centre, or at one of our foster homes then you may visit by appointment.

  • If your equine joins our foster scheme and is rehomed out then this is down to the individual foster home and most  foster homes do not agree to visits or contact by former owners.

Will I be kept in touch with my animal (s)?

Most certainly. The charity will always keep you up to date, by Email, regarding your horse or ponies whereabouts. Or by letter, this is normally done when the horse or pony changes location, becomes ill or in the event that it passes away. You are more than welcome to enquire for an update on your equine at any time.

If your equine is rehomed, then you will be told of the county but not the postal address. Thank you for understanding!!

In order to comply with data protection legislation in Ireland and to protect the privacy of our foster carers and supporters, we do not release anyone's details. If, however, former owners wish to pass or receive information relating to donkeys, we are more than happy to act as intermediaries on their behalf.

I have relinquished a pair of horses or ponies , will they always remain together?

A bonded pair or group of horses/ponies/ will never be deliberately split up. Although over a period of time it is common that equine find other companions and in some cases do naturally split up. Rarely we have to split pairs due to veterinary care.

If you have any further questions or wish an equine to be relinquished, please do not hesitate to contact us.
