Relinquishing your equine to L.H.P.R

 

The L.H.P.R Admissions Department is an important part of the L.H.P.R Welfare Team. If you have an equine or a group of equines that you are no longer able to care for then L.H.P.R may be able to offer a home to them for the rest of their days, provided they are fit to travel and we have space. We have put together a list of FAQ's with regard to relinquishing your horse or pony, which you may find helpful. If you feel that this is for you then do give us a call. We will talk you through our relinquishment procedures and will arrange for one of our welfare officers to come and visit you and your equine should you decide to relinquish them into our care.

 

No equine is ever refused admittance providing it is fit to travel, is gelded at least one month and that we have space and are able to help.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When your equine is relinquished to L.H.P.R it will stay with us for 4 weeks where its worming and farrier treatment can be brought fully up to date. Its future will then be decided. If you have any concerns regarding the above  please discuss these with your visiting welfare officer, as by signing your horse or pony over to L.H.P.R you are relinquishing all rights of ownership. This meaning you will now have no rights over the animal.

 

Initially the horse will be visited by an L.H.P.R welfare officer, but we kindly ask that you deliver the horse or pony to us. It will come straight to our rescue base in County Meath.

Please note there is a sign over donation per equine, below is fee set out by Leinster Horse and Pony Rescue.

 

Equine (horse or pony)  €250

 

If your equine is a stallion please note there is an extra dontion of €120 in order to cover gelding costs and its against our policy to rehome a stallion animal.
