ABOUT

OUR MISSION STATEMENT AND VISION â€‹MISSION

Here at LHPR, we aim to relieve the unnecessary suffering of horses and ponies in need of care and attention in Leinster.

We pledge to provide our animals with sheltered accommodation, and the highest standard of nutritional, medical and emotional care.

We promise to promote the humane care and behaviour towards horses and ponies and all other animals, through information and education in animal welfare and prevention of cruelty and suffering towards animals.

We believe animals deserve to be born with dignity and when the times comes to die with dignity. While we operate a no kill policy, we do have to be realistic and humane and sometimes have to make the difficult decision to put an animal to sleep if its suffering beyond help or is injured beyond veterinary help.

OUR VISION

LHPR is a non-profit organization dedicated to the care, rescue and rehabilitation of abandoned, abused, old, neglected, injured or unwanted horses and ponies throughout Leinster.

Our vision is to provide short term emergency refuge (and in some cases permanent) to these wonderful creatures, to promote at all times their humane care and rehabilitation, so that they can be placed in suitable foster homes or spend the remainder of their natural lifespans in a happy, healthy environment.

ABOUT

Leinster Horse & Pony Rescue (LHPR) charity was set up by Founder Joseph Quinn and Co founder Christian Spencer who had very little resources and a deep sense of injustice at the suffering of abandoned horses in Ireland, and a passion for change.

The Leinster Horse & Pony Rescue (LHPR) is a voluntary organization dedicated to the welfare of horses and ponies in Leinster. LHPR rescue, rehabilitate and rehome equines that have been subject to abuse, neglect, abandonment and deprivation. We respond to emergency calls regarding injured or distressed horses and ponies. We also carry out talks and presentations on responsible horse ownership and horse welfare to schools and colleges. From nothing has grown this beautiful organisation. We rescue, rehabilitate, re-train and re-home Ireland's forgotten horses and ponies.

Quality of care, not the quantity of horses we rescue.  We are a "quality over quantity" rescue. We pride ourselves in the way we operate so long as it provides progressive results that benefit our animals.
